Although Samsung's billing these plasmas as being "3D ready", what they mean to say is that they apparently did some tweaking with game mega-developer EA to ensure their two latest 1080p plasmas -- in 42 and 50-inch sizes -- play games well. The HDMI 1.3, USB, and supposed 1m:1 contrast ratio don't exactly hurt, either.

3D ready means you can see 3D videos if you wear a special pair of glasses, like you do in amusement parks.
EA is a contents-feeder.

These are the Series 4 Plasmas which were shown at CES - comin to the U.S. next month. They, along with the current 2007 and upcoming Samsung DLPs, need the shutter glasses/emitter/software package from DDD for $199. Word on the street is that NVIDIA needs to step up their game and get their 3-D drivers updated so more games can be played, etc.?
I've seen it on the DLPs and it's pretty damn impressive, but who knows

So what, exactly, did EA do for them? What do they mean by "optimized for gaming"? That it has an improved game mode that reduces image processing to get rid of the lag that processing can cause in games? That it has a really fast de-interlacer, so as to get rid of the major lag that can result when you hook up any game console older than the Xbox to an HDTV?
I really wish manufacturers would give some specifics, instead of meaningless throwaways like "optimized for gaming".
