Earlier this week, we posted up a
poll to find out just how many of you were planning on utilizing those $40 government-issued
vouchers just as soon as they arrived in your mailbox. Now, however, we're seeing the first reports of early appliers receiving their pair of coupons in all of their credit card-sized glory. Nothing too special here -- just a couple of wallet-friendly cards good for $40 off (
most) DTV converter boxes
out there. But being the geeks that we are, we're strangely satisfied with seeing images proving that these are actually real.
[Thanks, Alec A.]

LOL
I like how they "blurred" the numbers from the front of the card, but didn't bother with the embossed numbers on the back side of the card

90 days to redeem... It looks like CC has the Zenith, BB has their Insignia, and that's it for those stores, and I doubt Wal-Mart's any better. Seems like they could have waited a few more weeks to let supply ramp up so if people rush for the boxes like they rushed for the cards there won't be a scarcity of them.

Is there any site actively reviewing the boxes? I know they all have basically the same featuresthey have to in order to get certifiedbut I'd like to know what sets each box apart from the rest, whether it be added features, reliability, or ease of use.

Yea! I just got mine in the mail today also. I'll be heading to my local store over the weekend.

Well, for now at least, they're so scarce they're near impossible to review. I'm probably going to push my family towards the Sling/Echostar one, unless I hear it blows before they get their coupons. I've got the *real* Samsung OTA HD tuner, and it works great. Pulls in our local stations' weaker digital signals better than their analogs.

I ordered two of these coupons for my aunt, she got them today.

I was surprised today when I got these. I was fully expecting just like two little pieces of paper. But these are nice little gift card sized coupons. First thing that came to mind? "Wow, a government program that works exactly like it is said to work."
