you've been able to get several of these on half.com for these prices for months. BR has has b1g1's for months too. why do these pricing promotions make the news?
Because in this case it brings forth yet another perception of a fire sale in response to HD DVD's upcoming demise and acts as a rallying call to the BD crowd to do more of their "Death to HD DVD! Death to HD DVD!" chanting. In fairness, it also does help the HD DVD supporters to get as many discs as possible before the format caves in, but I sincerely doubt that THAT is the main reason.
Admittedly, though, those are some *really* good prices for those who have HD DVD players.

I'm guessing that as this is a new promotion, it's "news". If a promotion has been going on "for months" as you say, then why would it be newsworthy?
