Shortly after DirecTV blessed Knoxville, Tennessee residents with
HD locals, along comes Comcast to beef up its own high-definition lineup. Effective immediately, subscribers in the area can tune into History Channel HD, Discovery Channel HD, Animal Planet HD and Sci-Fi HD. According to tipster Shane's count, these four newcomers bring Knoxville's total HD options to 29 -- not too shabby, eh?

We had the same added on our Comcast service (they took over Time-Warner out here last summer) a week or two ago in Memphis, TN as well.

Crime Warner is planning on reducing the number of HD channels in Manhattan, NYC to a more manageable number for them... from 18 now to a much simpler half dozen.
Oh, and a 10% increase in rates. But the rate increase will be ONLY for those who can't get any form of satellite service, if you CAN get satellite, no increase.
This will be the second 10% dis... we already have sections of the city that get 50% more HD... THOSE areas that universally can do OTA and get satellite have gotten a 10% rate reduction for about 6 months already.
Pretty sure they are counting on the fact that almost everyone outside the city will be cheering their moves. For those, don't worry, they DO have some plans for you as well.

Comcast is full of crap. Their HD quality is so compressed and subpar. I watched LOST the other night and it looks worst than it did when I watched it OTA. The HD selection is weak. The cable technology is obviously reaching that bandwidth bottleneck.

SciFi HD would make my day.
