Sure, TiVo on Comcast has been
available in the New England area for a short while now, but for most of the nation, they've no idea just how Comcastic (or not) the new setup is. Fret not, as a kindhearted Bostonian has gone well above the call of duty and provided us with no fewer than 46 snapshots of the interface and remote. Granted, there aren't too many surprises or anything, but do yourself a favor and check out the gallery below while you wait for the service to finally
bleed out from the Northeast.
[Thanks,
Chad]

I know this has probably been covered, by is there a change to the cable box as well? Or do they just update your current box?
Tivo is available through Comcast in my area (I am also a New Englander). I have been kind of on the fence about it though because my Comcast bill is SO huge. I am hesitant to pile anything else on top of it.

I just talked to the Comcast people and the boxes that you have are likely good to go (if you have an HD/DVR box currently). It's a $2.95 per month fee that covers every box in the house.

What?? No pics of OnDemand in use? Just the OnDemand menus? How quick was the startup of OnDemand titles? Better or worse than the previous software?

Look at all those HD channels. *sigh*
I live in North Texas, and I really *really* miss Comcast. I get a grand total of four non-local HD channels, so I'm not holding my breath for anything like this anytime soon.
Who knows, maybe someday I'll actually get to use that $2500 HDTV for soemthing other than watchin the same old standard definition.

At least you have HD channels, here in Portugal we don't have any HD channels on the only cable/sat provider that covers the all country, there 2 HD channels (Luxe TV and HD1) available on one IPTV provider that is available only on the two biggest cities we have. So before you complain remenber that there are those who pay 75$ a month for 60 SD channels, most of whom are crap, the only ones that are good are FOX, FOX Life, FOX CRIME, F/X and AXN

Interesting menu/UI changes. PIP in the menus! The ToDo List screen gets a nice UI cleanup. Too bad about the remote: I guess Comcast made TiVo add all those worthless extra buttons. The option to hear Dolby Audio is interesting, as it says it interferes with DVR sound effects. I find one of the best features of TiVo is the feedback from pushing the remote buttons. It is what makes using it so much better than typical cable co DVRs.

i have been using the comcast-tivo software now for a few weeks...i was one of the very first. a few observations; one - when you go to push record for any program, there is a pretty long delay; those of you that have the old directv-tivo know this delay. also, when scrolling through the channels on the guide, there is a slight delay, but it is annoying.
overall i am happy i have the service b/c i like the interface better than comcast regular, but the speed is not great.

I've had the TiVo interface in my household for six years in the form of DirecTV DVRs. This all changed last week when I replaced them with new HD DVRs for DirecTV. I was initially bummed out at the prospect of losing the TiVo interface.
I had actually considered going with Comcast, but not even my local Comcast franchise was willing to crawl out of the dark ages. They still want to use an old HD DVR with 20-hours of HD recording capabilities. This is a far cry from the 50-hours on the new equipment I got.
Not saying DirecTV is better/worse than anyone else, but as it turns out the interface on the new equipment seems to function fairly well and thus minimized the impact of change. Oh, the new equipment are a pair of HR21-200's. Cost me nothing.

I was a super fan of DirecTV after 7 years of their service. I had a Series II Tivo with them. Bought it at Best Buy for $99 and I owned it outright. And because of the package I had with Direct, I didn't pay a monthly fee for any DVRs.
I did get a DirecTV DVR at one point. Having a Tivo and a DVR are just apples and oranges. Tivo makes all other DVRs look like a bicycle parked next to a Ferrari. Tivo is just sooooo much faster, has a better interface, and is more user intuitive. And the cool thing about a Tivo is that is is open source LINUX with PLENTY of hacks and doo dads to unlock other features, etc. I even had my TIVO doing caller-ID and putting the message up on the screen years ago.
However, where I had my dish located was off my property because of trees in the way. Property got sold and I got an HDTV. That led to me having to go back to the Evil Empire of Comcast. Their HD DVR blows and their selection of HD channels is only slightly more than when I was using an over the air HD antenna in my attic...for free!!
Like one other poster said, I really don't want to give Comcast any more money for my bill is high enough. But what choice do I have? Comcast is the cable monopoly in my area and Tivo is just that much better that I actually look forward to getting one......if its ever offered in my area.
