Paramount and Universal know they can't "win" this format war. They're probably taking the time to come up with an "exit" strategy. Find a way to introduce Blu-ray product without cheesing off HD DVD early adopters and Toshiba. But I wouldn't be surprised if they're holding out some of those hot catalog titles for dual-format releases later in the year (Braveheart, anyone?).
