Denon's DVD-3800BD Blu-ray player delayed until March
Bad news for folks holed up in Japan and anxiously awaiting the release of Denon's forthcoming high-end Blu-ray player -- let's just say your patience will be tested even further. Reportedly, the relatively gorgeous DVD-3800BD will be missing its ship date by about two full months, as now it's not slated to land until sometime in "early March." Interestingly, no reason is given for the holdup, but rest assured, Denon won't be hacking back the price as a symbol of sympathy.

Meh, who needs this thing anyway. I know home theater enthusiasts will dig having such a high-end, shiny piece of gear in their equipment rack, but my theater is quite happy with a PS3 rocking the latest Blu-Ray profile and streaming top-notch 1080p to my Denon receiver.

This gives people more time to have one of their kidneys removed to pay for this thing..

Is it just me or does this think look like a VCR from about 1985?

Perhaps they are delaying it to support Profile 2.0, or better yet, support SACD.

Ha ha ha!!!
No, not an anti-BD statement, that is for the a$$h0le customer that was angry we did not have it ON DISPLAY and IN STOCK last week, and was upset that I even mentioned the fact "we will not have it for a few months probably".
I'll give him a little call tomorrow ;)

We have heard in our stores (Ultimate Electronics) that the player is being delayed for profile 2.0. It makes sense, it would be stupid for Denon to release a model like this that would be out of date within a month when Panasonic's BD50 comes out.

People with crestron/amx etc automation systems in their house need components with rs232 ports to control them. It allows the automation system to know if the component is on, which input it's on, etc. Denon and other high-end brands have these which makes them a favorite for high-end custom installers.
