The 8300HDC is the most horrible and buggy STB I've ever used. That's mainly because it's java based. TWC had terrible software laden w/ ads and it was EXTREMELY slow when I would visit my Mom's in Houston.  In Austin, while it is definitely outdated and needs improvement, it got the job done and didn't even compare to how bad Houston's software was.  After Comcast bought TWC in Houston, they upgraded the software to what was already in Austin, and added many more HD channels than Austin has.  That being said, I've been holding out for a new HD DVR since I got my TV two years ago.  This upgrade is long over due.
