Real Time with Bill Maher goes HD on HBO
Granted, the 2008 premier of Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO wasn't one of his best performances, but it certainly looked better than shows prior. For those who didn't tune in, you'll likely be interested in knowing that it aired in 1080i for the first time. Now, if only we could get those writers back, everything would be lovely, eh?

Everything is better in HD in my opinion.

Bill Maher in HD? Someone needs to go to jail for this- that bastard's face looks like someone left an apple on a radiator.

Sorry, but this guy is a big ass. I couldn't hate anyone more then I do him.

@ ShaolinDolemite (and JBDragon)
I welcome your opinions, but why hate on Bill Maher? Can you think of another show where there is a true open form that's free of network censors? Granted, I would prefer more opposing, conservative views on the show but it's not his fault some politicians, corporate reps and media heads are too chickensh*t to take his offers to be on the show.

HBO was an early leader in HD. But they have fell really behind. The Wire may be the only drama on TV not in HD. Showtime has all it's drama's in HD as does, Fox,NBC, CBS and ABC. And Inside the NFL has to be the only NFL highlight show in standard def. Inside the NFL really looks dated. HBO is still behind in my opinion.

Actually the NFL network's highlight show "NFL Total Access" isn't HD either. I know, talk about lame.

The Shield is another great drama not in HD(even if it was though, I couldn't watch it because I don't have FX HD). I think that since it is so close to the end of the series, and all of the other seasons were in standard def, they don't feel it is necessary to invest in HD just for the last season or 2. I can't imagine that all future new dramas will not be in HD though, there is no excuse for that. If this was the last season of Real Time, I highly doubt they would be going to HD. It wouldn't be logical.

I was pleasantly surprised when I turned it on. Had to do a double-take.

This guy is a douchebag.

I've noticed lately that the promos and lead ins for HBO movies and shows are now in HD (or at a minimum widescreen). I usually fast forward them, so I am not sure if it is 100% now but it sure seems better.

I watched it yesterday, and it seemed to be 720p to me. It didn't look as detailed as 1080i, not that there's a huge difference.
