Granted, there are some out there who've been dodging the whole "limitation" aspect of Netflix's Watch Instantly feature
for a good while, but for the honest, upstanding citizens abiding by the rules, things are (seemingly) about to change for the better. According to a recent report from the AP, Netflix is gearing up to banish the time limits for online streaming on all but its el cheapo $4.99 plan, meaning that subscribers to every other plan will be able to
watch online content as much as they'd like. In case you haven't connected the dots quite yet, it's being suggested that the move will be made to fend off the
looming competition from Cupertino, and while this would undoubtedly increase costs, it doesn't seem as if the firm plans on hiking rates (at least initially) to compensate. Now that's a change we can live with.

I completely agree! 6 of the 7 Blu Ray movies in my queue are at very long wait. For a company that said there was no demand for HD movies a couple months back they sure dont seem to care that their stock sucks.

They need an agreement with Sony to use the PS3 as a set top box. Then get HD rentals going.
BTW, people keep talking about downloads putting optical discs out of business, but shouldn't the movie channels (HBO, Showtime, Starz) be more worried? If you can dl any movie at any time, then why get the limited list from a movie channel? Are the handful of shows enough to warrent adding a movie channel?
I finally signed up though to get blu-ray rentals.

I'm not sure I care about HD DVD or Blu-Ray with being able to download whenever I want, as much as I want. Instead, give us more downloadable content!

This is cool but between an xbox 360, ps3 & a tivo HD, I've got enough devices connected to my HDTV to go out and buy another to use netflix. Put it on tivo, netflix, and I'll subscribe. I wont drop blockbuster but I'll subscribe to netflix.
We'll never see it on the 360 or the ps3 unless both consoles are hacked to run homebrew &/or linux (properly... not gimped by a hypervisor). And the linux thing... netflix still needs to support that OS.

Agreed. They need to get on the ball with Mac support. Maybe then they wouldn't have so much competition from cupertino. I have to say though, I'm very tempted to switch courts. It all depends on high def content to me. And if appleTV has internet rentals, count me the hell in. :)

Doesn't affect me much because:
#1) I'm on the 4.99 plan
#2) There is not much that I want to see being offered in the Watch Instantly selection
I see no reason to upgrade to a higher plan since most of the HD DVDs and Blu-ray movies I have in my queue are all "Very Long Wait"!!!

I've had Netflix for years and love it. I have watched ONE movie online. Why? I got a 50 inch Pioneer Kuro Elite. Why the hell am I going to watch a movie from my desk on a 19 inch screen.
I need to be laying on my bed/couch and watching my plasma. Get the movie to my TV somehow using my Xbox and fast.

I love it. It's one small step closer to killing off that god-awful overpriced Blu Ray and one giant step towards streaming video on my hdtv instead.
