To have a complete picture, you guys forgot the low-end Funai/Sylvania (Q2 2008/ profile 1.1 - $299 or less) and the Daewoo/Daytek (Q3-Q4 2008 / Profile 2.0 - $199 to $299). Pioneer also anounced a player for Q3/Q4 2008, profile 1.1 with advanced audio support (including internal decoding of DTS-HD MA), officially presented at their show in May. Just a little complement :)
I think that's too expensive for a second/third rate brand. Buying cheap might not be so bad for $30 DVD players, but $200-$300 for a player is a bit much for a brand of highly questionable reputation.

Sounds awesome about the Pioneer, I've got the most recent model now and can't wait until a profile 1.1 comes out... You got a link for that?
