No live content. No SciFiHD, no CNN. It's all just VoD. Not that that is an issue, but it needs to be clear.

Nor are they likely to add it because then they run afoul of the congressional mandate on sat TV providers and have to provide all those local TV stations a sat transponder.

At one point DirecTV and DiSH wanted their customers to get OTA instead of having to supply the local singals over the satellite, but Congress and the FCC said no, and the courts said they couldn't violate metro franchise rules.

So, just movies and pre-recorded content. Not that that's necessarily a problem.

kcmurphy88

Comments on XstreamHD details continue to emerge

It will get acquired by either dish or DIRECTV.

Sean

Comments on XstreamHD details continue to emerge

This device really does seem too good to be true. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not comforted that the Mr. Gonzalez quoted is the Founder, CEO, and CTO. Do they have birds in the air? How much money does that cost? Let's ask Dish, DirecTV, Sirius and XM. These guys are fishing to raise money -- or to get bought. Classic vaporware. This is Gizmondo all over again, but for the HD set this time (gamers have had enough disappointment).

Jake

Comments on XstreamHD details continue to emerge

You don't need to own your own bird to offer this type of service and the current iDirect platform is perfect for all that they're "said" to offer. I'd say a single transponder is all they'd need if it's not a real time streaming service.

Jason

Comments on XstreamHD details continue to emerge

Oh snap, sign me right the hell up already

ChayesFSS

Comments on XstreamHD details continue to emerge

Wow!
