San Francisco man busted for stash of 50,000 pirated DVDs
Santa Clara County police arrested a 27-year-old "entrepreneur" with roughly 50,000 pirated DVDs stashed. The estimated street value of the collection adds up to $250k, and the movies naturally included titles currently in theaters -- including the critically acclaimed "Alvin and the Chipmunks." Police found the stash thanks to a 911 hang up at the man's home, and currently have him sitting in jail while everybody waits for the MPAA to redouble its consumer education efforts on this menace to society -- we're going to run out of plastic, people.[Thanks, Paul B]

Hate to nitpick, but according to the source, the man is actually from San Martin, CA (which is actually in Santa Clara County) not San Francisco (which is not) or even "San Fransico" (which is ???).

I think he should go to prison just for the simple fact that he went through the trouble to pirate Alvin and the Chipmunks. Who in their right mind would do that?

More taxpayers money well spent defending the rich & powerful against this kind of horrible 'criminal'.
I'm just surprised they haven't found child porn on his computer
(always a classic leak to the press to destroy someone before the case even gets going......even if those claims are later quietly dropped out of sight)
or perhaps some handy link to some unspecified (and similarly short-lived tale of) 'terrorism'.
