Believe it or not,
ViewSonic actually is nearly done with its CES outpouring, but if you're somehow able to stomach more, the 22-inch VLED221wm LED display is fairly impressive. Hailed as the first LED display to rock a 12,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, this thing is also able to display 118-percent of the NTSC color gamut. Furthermore, you'll find a five-millisecond response time, a 1,680 x 1,050 resolution and a Windows Vista certification that's practically meaningless. Right down your alley? Check it out next month for $799.

A 22" 1050p monitor for $799? Uh, I think I'll pass here.

heh...I guess you'd really hate Dell's new $1200 22" 1050p monitor.
I guess this $800 monitor is marketed to "professionals" who need great color accuracy or something...but Dell's makes very little sense. The only market for Dell's Crystal is style-obsessed folks who have money to burn. 4x the normal price for similar features but some extra "shiny" appeal...

Totally Agree. Nearly all my laptops in the past 5-8 years had screens at 1200P (1600.. then 1920 when the 16:10 widescreen craze started a few years ago). Why could I get a 15" ----x1200 pixel laptop screen in 2001, but I still can hardly find a 22" 1920x1200 standalone monitor in 2008????? WTF!
@EQC
I'm not quite sure this screen is aimed at professionals as it's resolution/DPI is so damn low.
and yes, Dell's POS is a total ripoff. Some of the best screens that can now be had at lower prices are Apple's cinema displays..

I am curious as to why all of the manufacturers are going with 1050 rather than 1080. Am I missing something?
Terryfried @ Mar 31st 2008 2:37PM
1080 is 16:9 TV
1050 is 16:10 monitor
