Audio had always had to come through a separate Toslink cable.  From the sound of it, Pioneer has finally come to their senses and is at least adding HDMI audio to its top end receiver.  This should make them much more attractive to the mid-fi crowd who choose not to drop $1K+ on their A/V Elite line.  I've been looking at a 1017 for quite a while now, looks like I've got a reprieve on upgrading now until at least June when the 1018 comes out.
