That's the same price I paid for my first DVD player back in 1998, so prices have definitely come down for Blu-Ray players in a very short time. I know folks will say HD-DVD was now $99, but fire-sales don't count. Philips will certainly be selling it at that price for a profit.

Same here. I bought my first DVD player for $300 in 1998.
