I can give up $500M cash if someone offered me 20Million shares of Sony stocks (which I will first convert into cash first before paying them back $500M). WB just killed the high definition market by not giving consumer any choices at all. DVD upconverted with my $55 divx player FTW!
I'm amazed at how easily everyone over looks a clear business decision, just so they can whine about wasted money. If worldwide Blu-ray sales are many time higher than HD-DVD why would any company switch to HD-DVD only?
The decision is a simple one. Switch to the better selling format, kill the format war, and spur on widespread adoption of next-gen players. There are many households that have not bought into either camp, and will not until there is a clear winner. Thats a lot of money just waiting for such a move before being deposited into their bank account.

WTF are you talking about "killed the market"? And upconverting a DVD is not even close to the picture quality of a real HD program.
