We know, it's not like outsiders feel that
New York really needs any more FiOS TV, but nevertheless, the Empire State is getting additional access courtesy of Verizon. Reportedly, the operator has just received authorization to offer FiOS TV service to residents of the Westchester County villages of Sleepy Hollow and Briarcliff Manor, the town of Ossining and a dozen villages on the North Shore of Long Island. More specifically, denizens in Great Neck Estates, Great Neck Plaza, Kensington, Lake Success, Munsey Park, North Hills, Plandome, Plandome Heights, Plandome Manor, Russell Gardens, Saddle Rock and Thomaston can start getting their hopes up, as all that has to happen now is a review by the New York State Public Service Commission. Total number of NY communities now at least eligible for FiOS TV? 92.

Great for the suburbs... what about the 8+ million that live in NYC?
We've been hearing that Fios TV is coming "next month" for what seems the last thousand years already. The damn fiber is in many places; Fios Internet is in many communities...
When will the idiots at the NYC Dept of Technology let VZ turn the TV on already?!?

When the TWC lobbyists are no longer welcome there! There are all sorts of rumors about secret deals to allow Verizon to offer service, BUT as long as TWC fights to prevent them for getting a franchise agreement, it delays the process. TWC wants to stick it to NYers (especially Manhattan with higher rates for far, far less content than the other boroughs) for as LONG as they can get away with it. With satellite and IOTA mostly unavailable in manhattan, they truly have a very captive audience, so they can stick it to them with little consequence.
I am convinced that they also figure to let up when Verizon GETS it's franchise AND is farther along in laying fiber. I'm sure they think everyone will forget how much they stuck it to their customers because they COULD stick it to them. All I can say is that 100% I am GONE as a TWC customer as soon as I can get FIOS triple play.

Am I the only one enjoying all the good news commin out of FIOS about the new areas, and the pictures of the pretty menus, that SOME OF US DONT HAVE YET!! Not to mention that the old menu doesn't support a page button. 700 beautiful channels is tough when surfing one at a time. So FIOS - welcome to Long Island! Keep those delays comming :-)
