Survey says HD PQ trumps content, and real life
First Motorola tells us people prefer HDTV football over being at the game, now comes news they'll watch uninteresting programs in HD. That's right -- a recent survey by Moto found that HDTV owners are so blown away by the picture quality that they'll watch HD programming whether they're interested in the content or not. We can look past the finding that people are watching more nature programming on their HDTVs than they did in third grade; there's a lot more nature programming available now. But when 12% of people say they watch sports in HD even though they don't like sports, you're seeing HD magic in action. What's even crazier is the finding that 20% of respondents find real life blurry compared to their HD window to the world. Scary. On a good note, the movie respondents most wanted to see in HD was seasonal fave "It's a Wonderful Life." Maybe people are getting wise to the evils of stretch-o-vision, eh?

I've been watching stuff in HD for years now and I'm still impressed every time something in HD comes on.

I wonder if the same with HD movies as well? Picture quality over content?

This is how WOSU-HD (PBS HD) became one of my favorite channels.

I don't find real life blury, however, I feel much better with HD video of something than being there in real life...
Because in real life I'm limited to the angle of my head, and my height is about as high as I can get on the scene... with the video, however, I can be as low as under and as high as flying above the sky :-D that's what makes the real life look blury

err, blurry with double "r"...

I'm always "sporting a tremendous woody" when I'm watching Blu-ray Discs on my PS3.

I remember when I got my first HDTV, about 4 years ago, watching a few minutes of a nature show on Discovery HD, and actually enjoying seeing a panda lying on his back, patting his stomach. How cool/pathetic is that?!?
I'm one of the people who would rather stay in my warm living room watching football, then doing so in a cold, wet stadium, selling overpriced beer.

err...I meant Discovery HD Theater, no Discovery HD. Didn't exist back then and still doesn't on my cable lineup.

I think this is true, to a point..
I find myself always hiting guide 3 times to filter my Dish program guide to ALL HD first to see there is anything in HD worth watching. However, I'm not going to sit and watch Rave for hours on end because it looks soooooo cool, well not at least since I stopped doing x and acid......
