Time Warner adds six new HD channels in Augusta, Maine
There's been an awful lot of HD expansion mentioned lately, but Time Warner Cable (partly owned by Time Warner, parent company of AOL, which owns Engadget) has been sorely absent from the fun. Thanks to a tipster up in Maine, we've now learned that TWC has apparently added six new HD channels in Augusta without so much as a whisper. Customers in the area can now look forward to receiving CNN HD, HGTV HD, National Geographic HD, Food Network HD, Lifetime Movie Network HD and History Channel HD, but we've no idea if these options will make their way into any other surrounding regions.[Thanks, Jim Johnson]

I'm in Athens, OH and I could really use some new TW channels as well. I'm so close to leaving them for satellite. I need a lot more HD channels and what about TLC HD? come on!

Well I live in Maine South Paris Maine to be exact and the cable company here is Time Warner.
Unfortunately, time warner only added two of the six channels here. I'm sure there is a reason why they didn't add them all but as usual no one knows anything.

Actually, we got these channels about a month ago (Honolulu, HI). We got TBC HD, MHD HD, and one other one I can't remember at the same time.
So hopefully this is just another step in the national roll out.

We already have Food Network HD, HGTV HD, and History HD out of those and they were added in October in Dayton and Cincinnati, OH... Would like to see CNN HD and the real Discovery Channel HD added.

What a PITA TWC is. We gave TWC until the end of 2007 to get their HD act together. I have a Dish installer scheduled to come out Sunday afternoon...It's been two years since I had satellite. I would have gone back to DirecTV, but Dish offered all free hardware...

this is supposed to be happening in Rochester NY any day now. In fact, last night, it looked like some of the current channels were getting moved around in the guide.

The Greater Portland (Maine) TWC system added The NHL Network, The Golf Network, The History Channel, Food Network, HGTV, Lifetime Movie Network, National Geographic Channel, CNN & FBN a couple of days ago. By my very quick channel scan, that gives us a total of 35 HD channels (counting HBO On Demand as 1, HBO East & West as 2, Showtime East & West as 2). Of course, some channels are "premium," some are part of an "HD Tier" @ $4.95/month and others are simply included with the "digital TV" package. Still a ways to go to catch up to DirectTV!

anybody in the Waterville, Augusta, N Anson area NOT get the History HD as they claim added? we live in N Anson and SUPPOSEDLY according to there announcement on there site we should of also got History HD but ofcourse we didn't any nobody can answer why...not surprised...
