It would be interesting to have a poll on here of what people have. When I talk to other people who don't know a lot, they all seem to still be afraid of burn-in, which simply takes effort to do. If you were afraid of burn-in on your crt, then you can be afraid of burn-in on your plasma. Personally, I love my th-42pz77u.
It would also be interesting to find out what people have in relation to their HD format of choice, since less than a handful of LCDs can even be arguably as nice in picture quality as a plasma.
I just bought a Samsung HP-T5044 and like it so far. It's only 720p, but I sit back at least 10', so the increased resolution wouldn't do me any good. I've got less than 50 hours on it, so I've got the settings low until it's fully broken in.
For less than $1300, you can't find a better set at that size. I love plasmas.
