The 60 incher is 1080P. <br>Pioneer went for quality over pixels on the 50" model ("it's the black levels stupid"), but at 60" you just need the pixels.<br><br>Also, there isn't really such a thing as a 1080i flat panel display. All flat panels are inherently progressive scan and come mostly in 3 flavors: 1024 x 768, 1366 x 768, 1920 x 1080. Some Hitachi displays use ALiS technology which allows them to achieve higher vertical resolutions on smaller panels with a smaller number of electrode strips.  ALiS displays drive alternating rows of pixels at 60 Hz and in a way are similar to the old CRT based displays.<br><br>Check out Hitachi's website. My (little) mistake.<br><br>I was (of course) referring to that other international award winning Kuro, the 50" which, as I rightly said, is indeed 720p/1080i.<br><br>.....and also like I said the Kuro 50" has regularly beaten many of the current 1080p HD TVs in fair and neutral comparisons.<br><br>(not that the 1080p spec-sheet obsessed fanboys care to admit it.)<br><br>BTW hilarious lame personal attacks there okeygrak; fine debate. The 5080 and 6010 are two completely different sets. Different size, different resolution, different panels. <br><br>Besides, the 5080 is 768p. Not 720p <br><br>And saying that it is 720p/1080i makes no sense at all. Every HDTV can do 1080i, along with a few other resolutions. Because it is misleading.<br><br>Yes, they can do it. But that doesn't mean they are.<br><br>Sets are specified by their native resolution. And should be listed by that specification. Additionally, "supported" resolutions are also listed, separately.<br><br>Otherwise, every set would be advertised as 1080i or 1080p since most hdtv sets can scale those resolutions. <br><br>A 480 set can display a 1080 image with a scaler.
