The only thing I can figure is that AT&T is involved with that guy who claims to have written a new standard for DSL that enables 100+ mbps speeds over regular phone lines (or something similar). If they're able to do that, suddenly they look like geniuses for having saved millions of dollars in infrastructure upgrades while delivering an equivalent product. If they're not, they continue to look like complete boneheads, always 10 years behind the competition.
