My friend has this model Blu-ray player. It has a fantastic picture with a Blu-ray disc. It's profile 1.0 but really, if you just want to watch movies it a nice player. It does a decent job on regular DVD's. $299 not a bad price at all. I'd buy this over the Samsung.
