AT&T U-verse intros "interactive features" in Los Angeles
Though we can't say AT&T's newest U-verse "features" are the most exciting we've ever seen, it's nonetheless hoping to lure Los Angeles citizens away from cable with a trio of new extras. Effective immediately, customers (and customers to-be) in the LA, California area can have access to "a suite of new U-verse TV features that further differentiate the service from cable." Provided gratis, the new amenities include the AT&T U-bar, which delivers "customizable weather, stock, sports and traffic information to the TV screen," YellowPages.com TV and AT&T Yahoo! Games. Riveting, we know -- but not nearly as interesting as five or six new HD options.[Via TVOver]

Other areas have already had access to these features for some time now. I know I've had them for about a month now. And you guys are right, they are not as exciting as getting new HD channels. That being said, we are getting 7 new HD channels tomorrow (12/17/07).

Does anyone here actually have U-verse in the L.A. area? Yes, I'm aware that it isn't L.A. proper, but I know people in many of the communities that are supposed to be getting it, and I can't find anyone who has even been offered it, much less has it. In Glendale, one of the cities supposedly getting it, the AT&T dsl operators are still pushing satellite. The Dslreports' user map shows about 5 users in places like Simi Valley and Santa Clarita. Maybe they should worry less about enhancements and more about getting a few homes actually installed.
