Warner's Noonan denies Blu-ray exclusive, which is nice
Freeze gopher! That Warner Brothers rumor which seemingly pre-dates the availability of both Blu-ray and HD DVD gear has returned. A week after Warner was to dirty HD DVDs swimming pool with their exclusive Blu-ray doodie, Jim Noonan (Noonan!), Warner Bros. Senior Vice President and General Manager, returns with this peach of a response, "We have made no decision to change our present policy which is to produce in both HD DVD and Blu-ray." And that's all she wrote.

I googled this... and saw a link to the bluray.com "official" website forums...
OH my god... they all sound like h4ldol.
HD4ME @ Dec 13th 2007 5:38AM
Don't worry, Festus (Cletus's brother and h4s cousin) over at bluray.con will start the rumor again 2morrow, then all the blu trolls will get excited again, and start spouting the same garbage 2morrow.
Have you heard HD DVD is dead? Apparently they announced that 4 or 500 times as well.
julian @ Dec 13th 2007 6:45AM
that is the same statment they made a month ago and remember in july when paramount said the same thing lmao and why on earth would warner break the news to this site? there waiting for holidays sales every oe knows that
h4ldol @ Dec 13th 2007 7:06AM
Actually, it's reprehensible the way that Warner is treating the poor HD DVD fans who thought that buying $100 1080i HD DVD players during Walmart's infamous firesale was a good idea. The plan, clearly, is to milk those poor suckers out of their hard-earned dollars while they go ape $h!t X-mas shopping at Walmart, and then drop the blu-ray exclusivity bomb at CES 08. Not fair to sell Joe 6-pack the first five Harry Potter films but not the last two. I'm incensed with rage at the injustice of it all.
John B @ Dec 13th 2007 7:24AM
I should have worn my boots just for that last sentence. The BS is really deep here.
Mr Bobby @ Dec 13th 2007 7:56AM
I support Blu-Ray and don't know if you're being serious or not. I laughed either way. The way I see it, if Warner goes Red, then the war continues and HD-DVD gains a whole lot of momentum. If they go Blu, then Red will be in a lot of trouble and the war may be over soon.
Dave @ Dec 13th 2007 8:10AM
@h4ldol
The only poor suckers are those who paid 300+ dollars for an obsolete 1.0 Blu-Ray player that can't do PiP or web connectivity...so, basically, all of you.
Michal @ Dec 13th 2007 9:02AM
yes, but they're staying yellow so it's all irrelevant.
WallyB @ Dec 13th 2007 8:39AM
I bought a $98 HD DVD player at Wal-Mart AND a $300+ (just barely +) Profile 1.0 BR player, so I must be the king of the poor suckers! :(
Vidikron (FU) @ Dec 13th 2007 11:40AM
Oh no! They can't watch director commentaries while watching the film at the same time. Oh wait... almost no one cares about that anyway.
rg23 @ Dec 13th 2007 8:46AM
Yes, WallyB. you bought a $300 incomplete product. You are a sucker!
LA26 @ Dec 13th 2007 9:14AM
PS3 is already 2.0 compliant. The goal is to get the stand alones up to that standard now.
IF you still have the receipt take the Blu player back spend an extra 100 and buy a PS3.
Kadillac @ Dec 13th 2007 9:19AM
The main reason why I went with HD-DVD is because Blu-Ray is an incomplete format...not because it was cheaper. Those 1.0 models are a waste. If BR ends up winning, big deal...I have 2 HDMI hookups so it won't be a problem keeping my HD-DVD player hooked up indefinitely. I'll still wait until I can get a fully loaded BR player for under $250.
Not a big deal guys...
Tom Strong @ Dec 13th 2007 9:28AM
Who gives a crap about picture in picture and web connectivity anyway? Weird nerds care, not real people.
wysiwyg @ Dec 13th 2007 9:49AM
Some care about bit-rates, majority of the consumers do not. (better statement than saying fanboys care about bit-rates, not real people).
andy @ Dec 13th 2007 9:29AM
I'm not good about beta testing. People expect everything I do to be complete and correct.
I expect the same of others who do things for me, including selling me a movie player.
If blu ray should win, I will NOT buy a player until they complete their specification and sell me a silent player (PS3 is out) for under 150 bucks. CD, DVD, MP3, and HDDVD layed down the gauntlet. I expect no less from a competitor.
david @ Dec 13th 2007 9:59AM
I Echo the who cares comment.
I have a PS3 and absolutly love it. If BR wins then it would be great because my PS3 can also be my HD video player (as it is now). I got it because I bought the first Samsung HDMI 1.3 TV (LN4661) and the PS3 was compatible with the standard. It has been great and I do not have one single complaint. HD movies, great games, internet, music and pictures networked with my computer on my TV...it's been fun :)
However, if HD-DVD wins, their players are dirt cheap anyway and I'll just buy one for $100 or whatever they're going for nowadays.
However, I do think one format must win in the interim before HD downloads take over. It's just too confusing for the average consumer to have two standards out in stores...and stupid.
I still say the PS3 is the best bet right now. If you're new to the HD game, why wouldn't you get this? It'll play HD movies, BR has the most titles, game library is now very good, and once DL movies take over, I'm sure the PS3 will accomodate that as well (might have to swap the HardDrive or add an external for more space). PS3 is future proof and like I said, if BR loses what's the worst that will have to happen...additional ~$100 for another HD player....whatever...although i don't really see that happening
Billy @ Dec 13th 2007 10:26AM
Yeah Warner's really going to side against a technology that they hold a few major patents to (u idiots)... LoL.
And did anyone else notice that Warner's new ads for Harry Potter seem to favor putting HD-DVD on top of it's Blu-Ray counterpart? And did anyone notice that when Amazon matched their Blu-ray bogo with a HD-DVD bogo, that HD-DVD took over the sales charts?
The BDA keeps providing FUD for the Blu-fay-boys to feed off of. The format's dying, and Sony's CEO knows it.
Vidikron (FU) @ Dec 13th 2007 11:44AM
Wouldn't you expect a slaes spike when a BOGO first appears? You're spreading as much FUD as anyone else.
Eddie @ Dec 13th 2007 11:01AM
No! You mean... Blu was spreading FUD?
No.
I don't believe it. We are clearly seeing the ghost or zombie of HD DUD, because it's died several times already and long ago.
Coolone3000 @ Dec 13th 2007 11:33AM
I just don't think HD downloads will be the holy grail like everyone thinks it will be. I will want to be able to take my media with me. At this moment it is pointless to speculate what warner will do, we will all just have to wait and see. Its amazing to see all the Blu-Ray people that seem to have it "all figured out" though lol. Since i don't think any of them expected Paramount to go exclusive to HD-DVD. And there is no proof of monetary compensation so don't even say it if you don't have the proof to back it up.
Bill @ Dec 13th 2007 12:10PM
I think those of us who want to maximize our HD movie watching are just going to have to buy both players. I don't see this being settled anytime soon. Maybe something will happen at CES, but who the hell knows. I've got my HD-DVD player (Xbox360 attachment) and eventually I'll get a stand alone Blu-Ray player, once they get down to about $200. And no I don't give a crap about PIP or web downloads. I just want to watch movies okay? I don't have time to re-watch them with PIP commentaries and all that crap.
Truth Teller @ Dec 13th 2007 12:15PM
Typical Blu-ray liars trying to talk up their game console format cos there's nothing else left.
Even now when it has been specifically denied by Warner (not the usual non-commital deflection which the PR guys usually trot out if there's any truth in the original rumour/comment) the Blu-ray liars are having serious trouble giving it up.
I see their latest wheeze is to pretend that Paramount will be returning to Blu-ray (not that there is the slightest ounce of proof of that happening).
They are simply delusional liars.
Spreading rumours, a pathetic 'strategy' - but so indicative of how dire their real long-term situation really is.
They'll be back to pretending that Universal are going dual soon, bet on it.
LMAO
Here's something else you can bet on.
Stringer sounds deflated right now because he has good reason to be and he is, he knows what the deluded BD fanboys do not.
HD DVD is going to have a very good CES 2008.
You can take that to the bank.
david @ Dec 13th 2007 1:55PM
winner of this bout is as unclear as the u.s. presidential race
also, fanboys on both sides are annoying...let's start a thread on that! immediately directed @Truth Teller
No one likes extremely biased comments/people...except for Fox News watchers :)
Fredster @ Dec 13th 2007 4:50PM
Actually, i wouldn't mind at all if all the movie studios would go neutral, come TL51 and release all movies in both formats and see what happens, let the customers decide! I know i would be more than happy to renew my DVD library with HD content!
h4ldol @ Dec 13th 2007 8:40PM
Believe it or not, Truth Teller is an even bigger _____ than I am. Go figure.
Coolone3000 @ Dec 13th 2007 9:34PM
@h4idol
I don't believe it, you are the same if not worse lol.
