None because I have the HDTV the game consoles the Blu-ray and HD-DVd players. I would like a new sound system but I'm not asking for it so I am asking for movies and games.

Already got mine - a new 50" Samsung plasma for the den. Bought it on Cyber Monday, along with my BD-P1400. Now I just need a few HD DVDs and BR's to enjoy (already have 2 HD DVD players)!

I'm all set with my new 60" Elite PRO-150FD, VSX-94TXH receiver and BDP-94HD Blu-ray Disc player (not having dts-Master Audio ain't exactly gonna kill me). Woohoo! Now I just need 'Blade Runner: The Ultimate Cut' on BD next week!
Carney @ Dec 13th 2007 3:30PM
I'm shocked that there's such little interest in a dual-format player, and overwhelming interest (by comparison) in either a Blu-ray only player or an HD-DVD only player.
Why limit yourself to only some hi-def movies, instead of being able to play all of them?
John B @ Dec 13th 2007 3:39PM
I think that the main reason is that right now there is no benefit to a dual-format player. A separate HD DVD player an 40GB PS3 will give you both formats *plus* a game console for hundreds less than any dual-format player out there. Given the choice, I'd much rather have the two-device option and have the extra funds applied to media.

Music Pirate @ Dec 14th 2007 5:16AM
Its amazing the lengths blu-ray people will go just to get attention for their dying format. Sad isn't it?

Jim Allman @ Dec 13th 2007 3:35PM
I NEED an HDTV. I've gone WAY too long without one. I have the perfect spot for a nice flat panel in the 42" - 52" range.
2 reasons why I don't have one yet: 1. Prices keep coming down, so I keep stepping back and saying, "maybe I should wait a bit longer", and 2. Technology keeps improving. Every time I think I'm ready to buy, a new-fangled feature comes along, so I end up pausing once again.
John B @ Dec 13th 2007 3:43PM
If you keep up with that attitude, you'll NEVER buy an HD TV because there are always new features and lower prices coming soon. So, by the time you get to a point where you see something you'll want to get, you'll just delay AGAIN because the price will probably drop again and newer TVs will always have more functions.
This is tech. There's always newer and cheaper around the corner, and delaying means you'll always end up going without. Just find something at a good price/performance ratio and get it.
Find a place that offers 0% financing for 12+ months then MAKE SURE that you have the discipline to pay it off before the end of the term. You'll get it same-as-cash and you can always consider selling that to do another 0% financing "upgrade" later on. But if you keep waiting for more functions at lower prices, you'll **always** be waiting.
Wryker @ Dec 13th 2007 3:38PM
too late - within the past 3 weeks got my Mitsubishi 73" HDTV 73833, Denon 2808 (w/ HDMI 1.3a), new 1.3aHDMI cables, HD-A2 (already have a PS3), and new Aperion speaker system (533-T's fronts, 534-SS surrounds, s-10 sub, & 634-VAC center)...ahh life is grand...just need to get it paid off!!
Leonardo DiCrapio @ Dec 13th 2007 3:38PM
bourne ultimatum and harry potter and the order of the phoenix on hd dvd. i wouldn't mind getting a 50" pioneer kuro but don't have a sugar momma. i'll have to suffer it out with my "ghetto" 720p (1024 x 768) th-42px60u panasonic plasma hdtv that i nabbed at best buy on black friday 2006 for $999 for the time being. the 42" panny will look good in the bedroom when i upgrade -- hopefully the mrs. will agree with me on that point, though.
David Varney @ Dec 13th 2007 3:43PM
Nothing, I spent my electronics budget for the year....Sony 46" XBR3, 60GB PS3, PSP and new surround speakers....my living room is a sight and sound spectacular....I gave up the HTPC idea when I got the PS3, I can stream all media from my PC to the PS3....ain't life grand...LOL

Yep, they are attacking. They're even calling me names in their safe haven.
"I'd rather be a retarded bastard than those intelligent blu-ray.com people."
I would reply to them there but was banned for not being a blu-blooded zealot.
My honest vote would have been an HDTV though.

Voted blu-ray. Don't go to engadgethd anymore because their writers are annoying, but I voted blu-ray ...that was ahaxton
and yea reading the thread that says to come here reads like a pep rally...where they play as their own cheerleaders.
shawnmos @ Dec 13th 2007 4:57PM
I already have a HD DVD player so I voted for a Blu-ray player. They are still too expensive though.

160GB Apple TV for my 19" HDTV
HDpurist @ Dec 13th 2007 7:06PM
Wow, just like how the dominated BD:HD-DVD sales is 4:1 , the player-want ratio is nearly the same at 3:1 as shown in the chart. Actually, BD:HDDVD sales is more like 10:1 considering BD BOGO is considered only 1 unit sale.
The war is definitely over. 2006-2007 R.I.P HD-DUD
Truth Teller @ Dec 13th 2007 8:25PM
Oh dear.
I 1st of all thought the Blu-ray.com thing was a joke, then I looked (cos I kind of suspected they really were that lame).
They are.
They really do talk in terms of hijacking this kind of thing as if they are "winning everything".
What a bunch of pathetic infants.
Truth Teller @ Dec 13th 2007 8:29PM
Of course the usual fanboy liars pretend that various sales and ratios are way out in their favour on everything.
They actually can't bear the truth.
Blu-ray sales (by the BDAs recent own admission) are in 2007; 4 million Blu-ray discs to HD DVD's 2.7 million.
Not 2:1, not 3:1, not 4:1 or any other laughable number.
It's just 2 : 1.35.
h4ldol @ Dec 13th 2007 8:45PM
I already own all of these items, so none will be on my list.

I chose none of the above because I am getting a new laptop. I already have an HDTV, an Xbox 360 and surround sound system. I have been thinking about a HD DVD or Blu-Ray but don't want to jump until the format war is over.
george @ Dec 13th 2007 9:35PM
blu ray player
181 @ Dec 13th 2007 10:03PM
For those of you who can't vote/see the results anymore, Blu-ray player was in the lead by a reasonable margin.
BBG @ Dec 13th 2007 10:12PM
What a surprise Blu-ray still has a commanding lead ... everywhere I look Blu-ray is winning ... how nice :)
Zodiac @ Dec 13th 2007 10:18PM

I got what I wanted, which was an LG combo optical drive for the HTPC that will allow me to play Blu-ray and HD DVD disks.
