The writers strike is in full effect
In case you haven't noticed, most of the best HD shows are in reruns. December is usually a month of reruns, but we've already seen an alternative season finale to Heroes, and in January when we'd normally expect to see our favorite shows come back, you can expect to see more reruns and more reality TV. There are some of our favorites that have some episodes left, like eight episodes of Lost, nine episodes of Medium, ten episodes of Battlestar Galatica, and seven episodes of Jerico. But others like the Office, Heroes, and Big Bang Theory are already out. Hopefully, the writers will get compensation for downloads before the remaining shows run out, and if not at least we'll have more time to watch all those HD DVD and Blu-ray discs.[Via ZatzNotFunny]

I totally blame this strike on Blue-ray and Hugo Chavez!

My HD DVR list of recorded shows has been pretty empty lately, so I've been watching Blu-ray Discs and playing PS3 games. I even went outside a couple of times!
MarkG @ Dec 10th 2007 10:09AM
you went outside? It's not THAT bad yet. ;)
evilkoala @ Dec 10th 2007 11:37AM
Outside? Is that a new ps3 game :P

Yea, who wrote the script on this one? Why would anyone go on strike in the middle of winter? I mean if you are going to be off work for a few months be nice to do it in summer.

I'll be using the extra time to catch up on a pretty big stack of Blu-ray and HD DVD discs. This strike could actually work to my advantage, as long as it doesn't go too long. I do feel a little cheated (I am paying for Tivo service, after all), though its also definitely making my netflix service much more worthwhile.

I'm just playing Warcraft :-P

I just needed to find out what channel and what time can I watch "Big Band Theory" ?
I've long been a fan of the Lawrence Welk Show and enjoy the music of Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and others, and that show (especially in HD) sounds like it would be just "the bees knees"
:^)

Now you can watch some shows that you normally ignore. Not to mention unwatched dvd's and some you would like to re-watch that you never got around to. Invite some friends over and have a movie marathon.

These people should be ashamed of themselves. Do you guys have any idea how many little people they are hurting in the business. All the other people that work on these shows are paycheck to paycheck people and they are all out of work now.
I would fire every last one of them. Break there stupid little union like a toothpick and then hire all new people.
gamedude420 @ Dec 10th 2007 12:36PM
so what, they just want to make more money, the same money that was promised to them years ago, but they agreed to hold off on.
also the sag (screen actors guild) and dga (directors guild of america) might be on strike in june/july because their contracts will be up by then and they have been talking potential strike for a while.

The graphics are INSANE! :D

All the Discovery channels, National Geo. and History channels are still on, so who cares? Anyway I'd rather watch a "Futureweapons" or "Modern Marvels" rerun over most of the ABC-CBS-NBC-FOX shows anyday.
JeffDM @ Dec 10th 2007 6:44PM
Futureweapons is interesting, but I just get the feeling they're a propaganda show. Particular examples are glossing over the problems with the PATRIOT missile system (more completely worthless, caused more damage than it saved) and the Osprey (20+ yr development & dead Marines in the process).
georgex @ Dec 10th 2007 6:21PM
Good luck to this guys trying to get another job after doing this strike! Who is going to hire someone that causes you trouble?
