My parents in Southern California had FiOS for two months before switching back to satellite. They cited terrible service - channels frequently being moved from one channel number to another with no notification, many channels that should have been working didn't work at all, and the usual difficulties getting anyone on the phone to respond to complaints.
FiOS is a great idea, but there seem to be a lot of kinks that need to be worked out in Verizon's system.
