Massachusetts gets even more FiOS TV coverage
If you've got a hankerin' for FiOS TV, and you've come to grips with the reality that it's not headed your way in the foreseeable future, you should seriously check out the open houses in Massachusetts. As if The Bay State really needed any more love from Verizon (okay, so we're envious), consumers in Waltham and Sherborn now have access to its fiber-optic television service. The new additions have made FiOS TV available to some 20,000 more households, and it bumps the amount of Massachusetts communities it's available in to 60. Oh, and just in case it wasn't apparent -- Verizon is "currently negotiating with several other communities in [the state] to obtain additional franchises."

I can't wait until Verizon converts my condo in Massachusetts over to FiOS. The second they finish I'll be signing up.

My parents in Southern California had FiOS for two months before switching back to satellite. They cited terrible service - channels frequently being moved from one channel number to another with no notification, many channels that should have been working didn't work at all, and the usual difficulties getting anyone on the phone to respond to complaints.
FiOS is a great idea, but there seem to be a lot of kinks that need to be worked out in Verizon's system.

I'll be getting FiOS TV on Tuesday plus a free Sharp 19 inch TV. I live in Middleboro in Southeastern MA and have had FiOS internet for ~2 years. I hope I enjoy FiOS TV just as much as their internet speed and reliability.

@ Jon
do you have the 413 blues? ;-P believe it or not, a lot of the people in boston don't have fios yet either. verizon is cherry picking well-to-do spots not in boston but in the surrounding area and avoiding the apartment buildings. luckily i somehow snuck into the fios-zone in arlington and am rocking the 20/5m & multi-room hddvr.
once you guys in western mass get it i foresee comcast's destruction, or at least better customer service and prices.

I live in a condo just north of Boston that's currently wired exclusively for Comcast. A couple months ago I ran into a contractor measuring distances around our property in order to run FiOS to all our units. Apparently Verizon was willing to pay all the costs necessary to run FiOS to all 80 units in our complex. I haven't seen anything since then but I'm hoping like crazy that they'll eventually do it. I would LOVE to be able to switch from Comcast to FiOS.

If it comes to my area in Somerville, I'm in.

Moved into an apartment complex in Natick, MA in july. I believe Verizon just moved FIOS into the town a couple months before, and they were advertising it up. Verizon sponsered ice cream socials and if anybody signed up to switched over to FIOS, they'd give you a free $50 gift card to Best Buy. Unlucky for me, I had already got it set up by then. But in August, Verizon was at a gas station in Reading, MA, giving 25cents off a gallon that day. At least I took advantage of that one.

They're wiring my apartment complex in Waltham now..will have to see if it's worth it, we're real happy with RCN after dumping Comcast.
