Nah, BD-Live isn't
even close to where it should be, but hopefully the impending stream of BD-Live-enabled films will push the
hardware vendors to get with the program. Apparently, both Lionsgate and Sony are readying web-enabled titles for January, even though "hardware that can fully playback BD-Live interactivity has not yet been confirmed."
War and
Saw IV should both be hitting shelves before February dawns, and while Miguel Casillas didn't elaborate on the former's interactivity, he did note that
Saw IV would enable users to "share content through their Blu-ray players' web connections." Furthermore, Sony executive VP of advanced technologies Don Eklund proclaimed that internet-enabled features would "represent a major theme in the studio's 2008 Blu-ray slate." Of course, we're not going to get too riled up until we see this stuff in action, but hopefully a lot more details will be spilled at CES.

but as soon as the PS3 gets the 1.1 upgrade, the majority of BluRay players will be 1.1 capable (even if you only count the 30-40% (??) that get used for BluRay movie watching). It's a pretty interesting situation...

Isn't BD-Live a profile 2.0... what the hell are they talking about? Related to WB report?
Seriously speaking, really, we do mean it this time, that for sure more than likely we are about to "ready" the possibility of some kind of uncertified online interactivity with at least some players with a possible update might support.

According to every single blu zealot that posts here, none of them want these next generation features that the opposition has had from day one.
It is a total waste of time according to them, they only want to watch movies on their extremely expensive DRM infested DVD players,...... that is until it becomes a mandatory standard that their sony masters require and it will become the best thing since sliced bread!

"DRM infested DVD players" Obviously you haven't been paying attention to MS's business model. They developed, or at least are behind it, the current DRM we find in a lot of the music and video downloads. I'm not saying Sony's hands are clean either. They're both guilty of the same DRM crap. This is the perfect example of "the pot calling the kettle black."

This will be so much fun to watch. Pretty much like a car wreck, you shouldn't really watch but you can't look away.

this kinda basically yells out "The ps3 is going to be profile 2.0 u know the most popular player by like 80%"
also proves that bd-j isent hard to program with when lions gate is one of first to come out with the bd live stuff lol just like that small german studio

I bet this will make the owners of stand-alone (and with Blu you REALLY mean stand-alone) BD players see red. They're already upset that they have to mail away for updates rather than downloading, and now this added insult: yes we have net content, but not for you. Chump.
