In Indianapolis, apparently. Actually I love the Dish DVR also. Thursday nights I record and watch My name is Earl, Survivor and Smallville. Three shows all at same time which the Dish DVR allows. NBC and CBS via satellite channels and CW via the OTA tuner. Now, picking up local, i.e. network channels in HD is another story. Dish offers local HDs for most of the top 50 venues in the country, but otherwise you need an OTA (off air antenna) to pick up local HD channels. How big that OTA is and where you need to place it depends entirely on how far you are from the broadcasting towers and has nothing to do with Dish. Great thing about the Dish HD DVR is that it also lets you hook up an external HD antenna if you want to pick up local HD channels for free.

I've had it for 2yrs now and love it.

Looks like you will need both. NY, Boston, & Phili are all carried on 61.5 and not 129 like most of the country.
