BBC officially launches HD channel
The writing has certainly been on the wall, particularly of late, but the long-awaited dedicated BBC HD has finally launched on cable and satellite. This means that viewers will be able to see programs such as Strictly Come Dancing and Cranford in high-definition, and moreover, the Queen's Christmas message will also be broadcast in HD for the first time this year. As we'd heard, Freeview audiences will still have to wait, but those tuning in via cable / satellite can catch HD programming for nine hours per day that will showcase content from all of the BBC's stations. Notably, Kill Bill and Sin City are also on the list to be shown in HD later this month, which should certainly inject a healthy dose of holiday cheer (or violent tendencies) into your soul. So, for those of you in Britain, how's the new station?[Via HDTV Reviews]

Does anyone in the US have info on which providers will carry this? I have Dish but I assume that we'll have to wait for Charlie to add another 113 sports and pay for view channels before considering this option. Sad.

It's very samey as when we had the trial, no change except the cant pull its only a trial when they screw up or don't broadcast something we know is available in HD.
For example the results show of Strictly Come Dancing is recorded in the same studio but is not broadcast in HD yet the first show is.
Tim Comolli - Its not an option to be abled to be viewed in the US - Do you guys get BBC One, Two ect?
BBC America may launch an HD channel sometime or another.

Yes now I only need a 299 ($600) for a HD box from sky and another 10 ($20) a month for HD programming and add 45($90) Sky TV thats 55 ($110) a month for and I can watch BBC HD along with the 11 other stations.
Not worth it at this time, I dont know anyone who had Sky HD it just costs way to much, and you dont get a lot of stations, the bad part there is no other choose in a lot of areas and, from what I can see cable has less HD stations then Sky.

Wrong. BBC HD works without a subscription, so you need either a 199 Sky HD box (if you get it from a satellite shop) or a 120 DVB-S2 card for your PC. No subscription is necessary for BBC-HD.

Benny Hill on HD. Bloody Excellent!

Huh?
I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever between the trial version and the 'official' version, still absolutely nothing worth watching apart from Later With Jools Holland.
