Didn't you read that manufacturing cost wise, they are already making a profit. Only when they include marketing costs and promotions that they are still negative but it should break even by March 08. Now here's the trick question. How long will it take before the PS3 sees black?
In the format war, the players are not what it's all about in terms of profit. It's the patents on the media and the licensing involved. That's why both sides want to win so badly. Look at DVD and the huge influx of sub-$100 Chinese players...
Do you think it's the players that make the DVD patent holders money, or those million copies of Ratatioulle (and every other movie) on DVD that pulls in the big bucks?
Right now the adoption rates and ratios are about getting the format entrenched, accepted. The money comes later.
