I am one of those souls who bought the PS3 when its price got lowered to $400. The XBox 360 is currently so much more expensive when you have to get the Elite version AND the add-on HD-DVD for HDMI capability with a hard drive. In addition, with Disney releasing quality titles on Blu-ray finally (Ratatouille, Cars) it strengthened the case. I bought my PS3 to play both games and dvds, as my 1080p LCD had been lacking an 1080p source. Since I don't have tons of leisure time to spend, at this time quality matters more than quantity for me in terms of games and dvds - which the PS3 has delivered.

All the Xbox models now include HDMI - you don't have to buy the elite to get it.
