Toshiba sold their oldgen ugly players at 500% loss. They continue to lose money even on the third gen. That is why no other company joins the losing game. Even if they keep up with that it will not last longer since BD gets cheaper.
And soon every PC will have cheap BD drive for backups and general usage (games and software cant fit to DVDs anymore).
It will be all over soon. The longer hd dvd manages to survive the better for Blu-ray since it drives BD price down.

500% loss ? do you mean that when they sell a player that cost them 200$ to make, they're losing 1000$ ? They're magicians ! With a technique like this George W could bankrupt America waaay faster !
