Just days after AT&T
announced that its U-Verse rollout would be hitting a million fewer homes at the end of 2008 than it originally planned, we now know that Austin, Texas won't be one of the locales affected. Starting right now, folks down in Austin, Pflugerville and Round Rock can place their orders for the service and can expect installations to start up on November 19th. 'Course, it's not too shocking to hear that more of the Lonestar state is getting blessed with U-Verse -- after all, it was the state that AT&T first deployed the service in. So, for those of you in and around Austin, is the urge to switch over too much to withstand, or will you be stickin' with your current provider?

Where else in Texas is this service offered? I'm in Lubbock, TX and have been interested in what AT&T could possibly bring.

San Antonio (AT&T Headquarters don't ya know) and Houston both have U-Verse in select locations. Sadly, my street is not yet one of them.

I will be switching to Uverse once it is available on my block (hopefully within a matters of days).

Anyone who is truly a fan of high-definition television would be best suited to stay away from U-verse until AT&T gets its act together and fixes its high definition offering.
I signed up for U-verse in September and compared it side-by-side with Time Warner Cable for about three weeks. It's a revolutionary service that I'm sure will be great someday, but for now it is very buggy and the HD television picture is sub-par to say the least. Add to that the annoyance of only one incoming HD stream at a time, and no thanks. I hate Time Warner but they are much better than U-verse IMHO.

Just hope you don't live on the wrong side of an apartment complex where some buildings can get service but others can't.
No, I'm not bitter. Why do you ask? :)

Yeah I'm in a big hurry to drop my 15mbps cable modem for 6mbps U-verse.

I see nothing here that is competitive in terms of price or feature. Satellite (Direct/Dish) both beat these offerings in terms of quality and content.
