Hopefully for their sakes past players will be upgradeable to 1.1 or even 2.0 so they aren't $500 to $1000 doorstops useless for playing any special features.
As long as I can watch the movie, I could care less about Profile 1.1 or higher. For some strange reason, I buy movies to watch the movie...I know it is radical but I'm a radical kind of guy....
Saying the players will be a doorstop is rather harsh. As long as titles that take advantage of 1.1 features are done the way Fox is doing it, 1.1 extras will still be viewable, just not with the full experience. Thus the reason for 1.1 being called bonus view.

One problem: you can't add hardware that isn't there with a simple firmware update.
Oh well, at least there are fewer hardware profiles for Blu-ray than there are versions of Windows Vista.

You can't. The only BD player possible to upgrade is the PS3. That's it, at the moment.
