Best Buy had price matching & no interest till 2010.  I expect they'll do something similar this year also.<br><br>The price match is for local deals, but I found what I wanted on the web.  took it in and they price matched about 80%. But, the thing is, a lot of the brand name stuff will get deep discounted as well... This worked in my favor last year because i bought $9.99 xbox 360 games, a bunch of DVDs i knew would be gone, some mp3 players for stocking stuffers... and i was tempted on buying a Toshiba plasma TV that was $800 off... I skipped that idea, but i still had the option because it was an existing product... You just need to keep your eyes open and check the store to see if they have it in stock... I'm willing to spend some money (prefer to be under $2500) but don't want to overspend if not necessary.  I have HD satellite and Blu-Ray and will also upgrade my receiver to one with at leat 2 HDMI inputs (probably a Harmon Karden). It's still not 1080p but it has one of the best pictures out there.  On a 50" model unless you are sitting really close there isn't a great need for 1080p.  Find a local dealer that stocks pioneer plasmas and go check it out. You watch TV with your own eyes, not a specsheet. There is a limit to what the human eye can percieve. When it comes to 1080p vs 1080i, the law of diminishing returns kicks in bigtime. Amazing prices, and I'm expecting a further drop in the next month, and during the Black Friday weekend.<br><br>Compare these bargain plasma prices to an LCD - where a 52" LCD is at least $3000 (and higher), and while having a higher native resolution (1080p), LCD TVs do not have better overall image quality compared to plasma [lower black levels, smoother picture on fast-moving images, etc]. I bit the bullet last time and spent the money on a Pioneer Elite and I guarantee that they are worth every penny spent.  Build quality and performance can't be beat and I have a lot of friends come over who also own 42" sets or larger and they all ask me why they can't get their picture to ever look as good as mine does even though they've got similar source material.  It's all in the brand.  <br><br>One caveat however, it does spoil you for buying anything else in the future.  I've been looking at buying another LCD or plasma for our bedroom and so I've been looking at just getting something inexpensive since it won't be on all that much. I just bought an LG 47" LCD on Friday. Because I bought it on a Best Buy card (with delayed financing until 2009) I get a price match for up to 60 days.  I've already received a $100 price match "refund" from a price drop over the weekend, and the TV hasn't even been delivered yet. I also know it to be a policy, andyg8180, that stores won't price match either and the price is limited to only like 7 hours of that day (meaning you have to usually use your voucher before 12-2 somewhere or your price is gone). John B you didn't get the 60's for using your card it's been an ongoing promotion for the entire year nearly. Don't get your hopes up on price matching though because I know for fact they won't and the TV is too big (conventionally a 15" and a 42" are the deals on that day not 47") but also remember your 30 day return policy doesn't start until you have possession of your set too even though the 60 day price protection started the moment you swiped your card. Maybe I need to go with a plasma if I'm going to go with a 50" set...and I definitely think I will.  I don't really compare 1080p with 1080i, I simply compare SD with HD channels.  So if a channel is HD, I don't really care if it's 1080i or 1080p (I realize that there are no 1080p channels YET). Do you think most plasmas in this size range will be similarly priced?  $1300 for 50" plasma sounds reasonable to me but I'd always like to shop different brands to see what has the best picture.  <br><br>Will a plasma have the pixeling image during fast motion like an LCD?<br><br>Let's keep this discussion going! I'm cosidering plasma, since fast moving games won't have the blur effect of an LCD, but I'm worried about the burn in issues with plasma.   For example, if I wanted to watch a news program that had those graphics that remain in the corner of your set.  Can those cause burn in?
