Oriole Park at Camden Yards to get HD scoreboard
Boy, all these new high-def scoreboards is a trend we can really dig. Next up on the construction list is Camden Yards with their $9 million AV upgrades including a new sound system, control room, upgrades on the ribbon scoreboards and of course, the 16x9 HD screen. The ribbon cutting is expected in time for the '08 Oriole's season and reportedly, right before the 15-year-old Sony JumboTron (pictured) losses its last leg -- and last replacement part. Right now, it seems stadiums aren't concerned about sheer size anymore -- by our records, a Tokyo racetrack still holds the size title at 221-feet diagonal -- but keeping up with the Joneses and simply have a high-def scoreboard to call their own.

This is something that has been needed for quite a while. The scoreboard there is really starting to feel dated especially when compared to all the displays they have in M&T Bank Stadium (Ravens Stadium). The jumbotron at Oriole Park just doesn't even feel like a jumbotron anymore.

They're upgrading the jumbotron at Camden to compete with the new ballpark going up in DC.

The one in DC is being touted as the biggest in North America. I saw on Build it Bigger, something like 109' wide and 60' feet tall, IIRC. Bring it on, I can't wait to see a game there.

funny the Orioles will add a new HD scoreboard but MASN still refuses to provide HD coverage of any games
Derrick @ Oct 18th 2007 11:01AM
Ok but the O's need to learn to win a game!

They should have HD for the 2008 season.
