Samsung Blu-ray player owners can finally enjoy Fox titles

Samsung BD-P1200 owners who've utilized the Ethernet functionality to update their firmware, have been able to enjoy Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer since Wednesday, and now the rest of the owners of both the BD-P1000 and BD-P1200 can too. As promised, Samsung made the CDR image available for download, so we decided to try it out; sure enough, it works, so we can finally enjoy the latest Fox titles. As crummy as this situation is for consumers -- especially those who don't know what firmware is -- we're happy to see Samsung continue to support their first generation Blu-ray player.

This is a moot development. Now that I know just how far Fox will go to push their right-wing agenda, I will have nothing to do with them. Any product with "Fox" associated with it will never see my business.

Why have I seen NOTHING about the 5 minute + load times for Knocked Up on the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on that STILL hasn't been fixed?

What are these issues you speak of?? I watched Knocked Up on my Add-on and didn't have any issues with loading it or anything.

I contacted Samsung today and was told that Samsung has not released a firmware update for playing Fantastic 4 or Pirates of the Caribbean. My BD-P1000 will not read a cd with the 1.2 firmware update eventhough I followed Samsung's directions provided with the download.

That's odd, we didn't have any problems on the BD-P1000 we tested.

Hi,

I also have installed the 1.2 update to my BD-P1000, when i play the Fox Title "Rise of the Silver Surfer". Every now and then the film freezes for a second, then carries on again. It seems to happen at certain points in the film, very annoying as it plays on my PS3 with no problem.
