As far as I knew, no HD DVD players do that..........I mean outputting the bitstream at least, and I doubt decoding them either. So I went easy on HD DVD and just didn't mention that at all.
But coincidently, there's a new article that explains it all for both formats.....just skip past the explanations of what each codec is (you should know that stuff already) and read that part about what each format does on most players.
