I keep telling my parents to wait till their current tv dies before they spend the money on an upgrade. Their current TV is approaching 20 years old, and still has quite a nice picture connected to their TiVo, so it will probably die within the next couple of years.

I got an HDTV for myself four years ago. I finally got a TiVo HD two months ago, after living with my old Tivo for seven years.
