Just in case you don't know, Pioneer is owned by Panasonic. They are the same basic display with different processors. Of course the Pioneer processor is much better.

Um, Pioneer and Panasonic may have some partnerships for manufacturing but in no way are the plasmas at all related. The Pioneer Kuro technology is entirely different then Panasonics plasmas. The 75 and 700 definitely use different PDPs then the Kuros. As stated Pioneers processing is significantly better as well and allow for true 24P 3:3. If you have ever seen the two together you can tell right away the Kuro has way better contrast. Ive herd that the lower contrast Panasonic is geared more towards longevity as they are rated to about 100K hours I believe. Both are great value for the money and represent the best PDPs on the market. As LCD eats into plasmas domain, these two companies may work more closely together to lower manufacturing and development costs. I wouldnt rule out larger LCDs from both Pioneer and Panasonic, the markets too big to ignore.

I really think the people who trust consumer reports are nuts. I also work at retailer that sells Elite and Panasonic and the Kuro's easily destroy the panasonic, and what ever pioneer they reviewed was not the 5080 not at 1900 dollars. Actually as I was writing this some 100 year old guy came in with his copy of consumer reports looking for that TV. All he could do was say look at what this says, and I said just look at them and see for yourself, and he would not even look.
