$19 a month seems like a lot since my 1500 sq. ft. home's monthly bill is only $60-70.

Wow, that is crazy. My 1800 sq/ft home costs me well over $200 a month every month and I don't even have that TV or leave my TV on 8 hours a day every day.

Jeez Ben, how much is your power per kw/hr? My 2800 sq.ft. house with a saltwater reef (about $45 per month in energy usage) is only about $240 per month during the summer.

Yeah, but I don't watch much TV in the summer, and in the winter, my 50" plasma will darn near keep the heat from kicking on. :D

Eight hours a day is a lot. Basically it's assuming that it gets turned on at 4pm and shut off at midnight.

You know, most people I know who watch TV do something very similar to this. They may not be watching the whole time, but the darn thing stays on for hours on end, day after day.

I use about 90Kw/h a day at ~$.09 kw/h.
I'm not sure why it's so expensive, I do have a lot of electronics, but it still seems high, when you consider I leave my AC on at 78 and don't run it at all during the day.

Quite irresponsible I think to make a comment like "in the grand scheme of things it isn't a lot of money, even the most expensive TV only costs $19 a month to run" in these Carbon Emission conscious times....
Or am I just being a killjoy? : )
