Now that CEDIA is over, things are getting back to normal. With the show just coming to a close, we spend most of the time talking about the biggest news from the show, including Blu-ray's claims, HD DVD's response, as well as a bunch of new stand alone players. We also touch on Vudu, and try to figure out why anyone would want it. Then, we round the show out with a little programming news.Get the podcast

I am surprised no one else has commented. The big advantage to TL HD-DVDs is the ability to complete replace the DVD SKU for movies that do not have a large run time. So you would be talking of million of discs on the market ready to move into the next generation. Even if you just replace the "Special Edition" skus with that is a lot of discs.
I wouldn't call the 51 gig as vapor ware. It takes a long time to get these formats tested and approved. To take only 9 months to get this spec approved is a good thing. Just look how long it has taken Blu-Ray to implement Java.
I have the 880 Harmony and it has its quirks but I can never go back.

Long run titles on one disc is a nice. No doubt Blu-ray has more vapor-ware than HD DVD.
Yeah, I can't go back to 8 remotes either, but the harmony wasn't for me. I have been through quite a few universal remotes though.

The podcast starts with Ben commenting on complaints that ALL they talked about on the last podcast was HD\Blu-ray then the first 25 minutes is dedicated to the TIRED OLD topic.
Move it to the END, so we can hit next instead of FF for thru more than HALF the podcast.
Better yet create a HD\Blu-ray podcast and see just how many people think it's worth the DL. My guess is you would get a reality check.

On of you guys need to get an HD-DVD drive. Hot Fuzz had amazing features and not a peep out of you guys on the show. Heroes is good as well. I see used xbox 360 drives for $150 or less all the time.
I was very disappointed with my Harmony. I bought it for my parents to try and simplify things. It took me hours and then they never got the point of "activities". Plus they don't have high speed which makes it so much worse with the application you are forced to use.

i don't know if someone at toshiba heard your cries about how the eject button didn't turn on the HD-A20 HD DVD player, but after listening to your podcast the curiosity came to me and i tried it... ad the eject button now turns on the player and ejects the disc tray. so i don't know... high five?
