Pioneer intros BDP-95FD Blu-ray player
We've already seen more than a few Blu-ray and HD DVD players make their debut at CEDIA this week, and Pioneer's now tossed an entry of its own into the pack, unveiling its new high-end BDP-95FD Blu-ray player. As Pioneer is quick to boast, this is apparently the first such player to offer bitstream output of "all advanced audio formats" including Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital+, DTS-HD High Resolution, and DTS-HD Master Audio. Otherwise, the player will give you full 1080p24 video, along with HDMI 1.3 connectivity (including HDMI-CEC technology), and Pioneer's "exclusive" Home Media Gallery, which will let you network the player with your computer or other DLNA-compliant gear. Just don't expect to be able to do all that on the cheap, with the player set to pack a $1,000 price tag when it's released in October.

In case you wondered if $1000 was expensive for an ELITE BD player or if you like to just play CDs, I found a nice $999 CD player for you.
It doesn't play DVD, HD DVD or BD so you would like it.

I can see DLNA for something like this... However, DLNA on my PS3 is extremely annoying... requires 3rd party network software (for my mac)...

Can this player internally decode all those audio formats and output as PCM?

actually I think it is nice to have a $1000+ disc player that plays BD, HDDVD, DVDs, MP3 discs, and ohhhh CDs.
1st gen BD and HD DVD players played CDs, Mp3, and DVD discs, so it is pretty damn foolish to have an ELITE deck that cannot. Considering BD decks were almost the same price.....ummm nice work. So will this play CDs???

Why are you saying that the BDP-95FD cannot play CDs? The BDP-94HD can, go check the specs:

So it would be only normal that the BDP-95FD plays them too.

I wonder what Blu-ray player is better, the soon to be released Sony ES player or this Pioneer Elite player?
AbbadonTD @ Sep 6th 2007 7:22PM
this player is amazing. Its clearly better than the first gen players, bdps1, even the bd91. there are a few little things to consider about blu ray. It SHOULDN'T play cds. if you have 1000 to spend on an Elite blu ray, then you should have good money, like 600 for a cambridge azur or a like 24 bit cd player. blu ray lasers are very narrow, and will not read cds correctly, and to make them do so would be way more work than is considered worthwhile by the major manufacturers.
That being said, DROOL! best upscaling I have seen on any player to date, full streaming features, and the Pioneer Elite look. Its a really good player and I for one think that its the best to date.

It plays CDs, as well as internally decodes advanced audio (minus DTS-HD Master) into PCM for transmission over HDMI or analog, for all the legacy receivers out there.

Jeff N., while this player supports DTS-HD Master over HDMI, none of the new SONY players support DTS-HD Master Audio...not sure if that affects your decision making.

I am looking at buying my first blue ray player. I have just bought the new Elite pro-110fd plasma(very excited). But i want to invest in the best blue ray to accompany it. I was told the samsung has something called the HQV processor that makes the video quality amazing, bottomline what is the best blue ray player on the market to accompany the tv? between $500 - 1000 ?
