Toshiba announces HD-EP30 / HD-EP35 HD DVD players for Europe
While there's certainly been quite a few new Blu-ray players to emerge from IFA, Toshiba is making sure the HD DVD faithful (at least those in Europe) aren't slighted by launching a new duo for that crowd. The standalone HD-EP30 and HD-EP35 players will both tout "REGZA-Link (HDMI, CEC-Link) connectivity and native 24 frames per second playback support," and moreover, the HD-EP35 also supports High Bit Rate Audio and Deep Color via HDMI. Additionally, both October-bound units play nice with Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD, and DTS HD formats, and while the lower-end iteration is set to launch between €349 ($477) and €399 ($545), the EP35 will demand between €449 ($613) and €499 ($682).

I wonder how the HD-EP35 compares to the Onkyo HD DVD? I'll probably get a new player by the end of the year and would like to get familiar with the specs. Thanks for any help!

Dear HD DVD supporters.
The HD DVD format is dead in the water in Europe.

Please ebay your players whilst you still can, and buy Blu-Ray.
Thank you for your attention.

Yeah, but he is right actually name-mate...

Well, that contradicts recent sales figures. But, if it were true, that would suck for Europe. They'd be missing out on a lot of great exclusives.
JeffDM @ Sep 2nd 2007 5:59PM
But they can import without running into region problems. To say that prices are a little steep would be a bit understated.

I am as guilty as the next man for backing my team, HD DVD over blown ray, but let's put it into perspective.
HD movies represent about 1% of the market, and we are talking about products that ARE NOT a quantum leap forward as DVD was over VHS, so for either side to be claiming victory yet is ridiculous, however..... GO HD DVD

Too bad for Europe they wont get a lot of exclusives but Europe wont be deciding anything its North America and Asia that most likely make the final say on who wins, besides I bet its the same thing in Europe as it is here in the United States, only Blu Ray player selling is the PS3, I've still yet to meet someone that is a BR supporter that actually owns a stand alone player, if you notice people's signatures on other forms your rarely see any BR stand alones. That would be a concern of mine if I was a BR supporter because the only leg they have to stand on is the PS3 which isnt fairing too well with its "so called" target audience gamers. Or maybe Sony put out crappy games on purpose to force people to buy BR movies?

Guess what's coming out in Germany, at the end of this year and the beginning of next, for HD DVD? Death Proof, Crank, Pan's Labyrinth, Saw 1-3, CSI: Season 5, and Hannibal. I'm ordering Pan's Labyrinth from the UK, of course, but I'll get everything there, except for CSI. I hope Germany doesn't censor the Saw films... that'd be one thing I'd hate.

@Liqwid: You forgot the title I'm most excited about: Terminator 2. This version looks to have some AWESOME online features not available anywhere else.

Smee, the terminology you use doesn't really help your case and tends to push discussions to the uncivil side. If you can't refer to something you don't like in a reasonably polite manner, please don't mention it at all. I think it shows that a person doesn't really have an argument if they feel they have to resort to mocking the "other side".
Smee @ Sep 7th 2007 12:53AM
My post was , i thought, a light hearted jest, and which i thought was polite and un offensive.
However, your remarks are plainly offensive, so how about go F**K yourself tool !
