Universal launches a new HD DVD promo site - kind of
This announcement might be a premature as the site seems only 40% done, but Universal launched a swanky, new HD DVD promo site. There really isn't anything to do on the site just yet but it appears that HD DVD owners are going to be able to download additional content and even purchase "exclusive products while you watch the movie." We're curious to see how the "Best Buddies" is going to work; inactive button says, "Send your favorite clips to your friend" -- sweet. Some might wanna check out the pre-launched site, but we'll drop a note when the site is 100% operational.

miami vice was one of the worst movies i've ever seen in my entire life, and i very much enjoy watching movies, and sitting through them until hopefully....the plot gets better. but never in my life have i seen a movie theater start off w/ 70 people, then within 30 minutes have it down to 60, 20 minutes later have maybe 50 left...then by the end of the movie i swear there was only 20-25 people left. point being, not a good movie to have on the front of the website, it was horrible.

Oh joy, that's exactly what I was hoping they would use the Internet connectivity for. A little icon will appear while you watch your HD DVD movie, and you can push a single button on your remote control to buy that jacket Colin Ferrel is wearing. Gosh, the future is so bright...for corporations.
Maybe we shouldn't be wishing for Blu Ray Profile 2.0 players after all!
