Buffalo offers up external HD DVD / Blu-ray combo drive in Japan
Nah, Buffalo isn't manufacturing the HD DVD / Blu-ray drive that sits comfortably within its new external enclosure, but those parked in Japan can reportedly get ahold of this peace maker for just ¥51,000 ($440). Apparently, Buffalo chose the GGC-H20N optical drive to read both high-definition formats in its BHC-6316U2, and CyberLink's PowerDVD7.3 Ultra will also be thrown in for good measure. Next month, Buffalo will be loosing the BRHC-6316U2, which will utilize the GGW-H20N Blu-ray burner / HD DVD reader and will run customers a respectable ¥74,800 ($644).

Sound like a sweet deal... save around a bit over $140 off. The LC GGC-H20LI (HD DVD/Blu-ray read only),PowerDVD Ultra is $95.95 and that is like $500 plus tax/shipping. This come with GGC-H20N, PowerDVD Ultra 7.3 is the latest update of Cyberlink software and a external USB 2.0 Hardcase for $440 plus shipping, I'm all in. I know that HD DVD might gonna be a winner in this round cuz Warner Bros. is in favoring the HD DVD, and everyone KNOW THAT. They might gonna follow same footstep of what Paramount/Dreamwork do... and if they do, then HD DVD drive is a way to go, but get BD drive just in case and only for renting some Sony, Disney and Fox. I don't like the software of Blu-ray, the cost of hardware, software and for every Blu-ray disc being sold or product end up in Sony Bank Acoount as long as BD exist. Cost the company few millions dollars for the software of Blu-ray and cost too much for BD hardware and Discs as well software too. HD DVD software is easy, cheap and can transfer the software of DVD to HD DVD very simple and cheap... like 400k for the software. HD DVD player and software is cheaper and more afforable for us (customers) to buy and reasonable choice. I bet some Blu-Ray fanboys will talk shit and negative and denying any of this is true. Sony is indeed a greedy and bashing all other things like software and hardware and keep saying "We're better and we're the way of business... other suck, buy our stuff." Yeah right, Sony is full of shit, they do make and made some nice stuff from back in mid-90's and some few stuff that's out right now is kinda alrite or good. But not the best, they claim to be and full of B.S., I like PS1. but I'm not big fan of PS2... I rather Dreamcast. But Ps2 kill Dreamcast... and then XBOX 1 came out, its way better than PS2 of course. And as for now... XBOX 360/PC is a way to go... yes ALL GAME SYSTEMS have FAULTY... like Nindoten, Sony and Microsoft have problems in some way and its happened all the time. Nothing is perfect and Sony claim to be, Bullshit. Nothing is perfect but I rather Microsoft and Nintendo cuz they're cheaper and better and more values.

Where to start...
1) Use paragraphs
2) I'm assuming you're a native speaker because of your usage of slang and the way you spell "cuz". If so, you're english really sucks.
3) Spell check
4) Blu ray is NOT sony's format. They're not the only ones behind the format, in the same sense that HD-DVD is NOT toshibas format. This isn't a battle of two companies. The sooner that you get a grip on that, the better its going to be for everyone
5) Xbox was a failure. Any console that sells 24 million units in 5 years, especially considering the price is was offered at...not very good. This just goes to show that 1 good game (ok, very very very very good game...Halo) can't keep a console afloat.
6) WTF w/ dreamcast? You sound like one of the dumb kids that goes into best buy asking if they still carry Super Nintendo games (i got that a time or two back in my Best Buy days).
7) WB is favoring HD-DVD? Judging by the way that 300 has sold on the two formats, i dont know what makes you say that.

blue ray is sony's...sure other companies support it but it is not their system/product...that's like saying xbox isn't MS but also EA and ubisoft...or Camery isn't just Toyota..but exon and shell and the tire company etc.
MS said xbox was not suppose to be profitable (they took huge loss on price when it 1st came out)...it was to get knowledge of the gaming world and get xbox live started and to let consumer know MS can make a game system...so if MS turns a profit on xbox2 and xbox3 etc...then xbox 1 was not a failure.
how did you work at best buy and not know of the sega dreamcast...it was a better system then ps2 but after genisis sega never released a games system at a good time. I was playing my brother nfk 2k series over phone on dreamcast before xbox was even out...i think ign still has a dreamcast area if you care to read about it.
I don't know if wb is favoring 1 over the other..but total sales tells us just that which sold more...the HD DVD haveing more features then BD and some titles only out on HD DVD could lead some to think they favore HD DVD a little. With that VP quiting...We might hear something at CEDIA.

Well for your information, SimbaDogg... I was in hurry because I've to run some errands. I don't have time to re-check my spelling, grammers and use paragraphs. Second of all Dreamcast came before PS2 and last like less a year while PS2 becoming well done market highest selling system of all the time. And thrid... XBOX indeed have a amazing games; Halo 1 & 2, Riddick, Splinter Cell series (always better than PS2 and Gamecube), Fable, Dead or Alive (I don't care very much for it), Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic 1 & 2, Empire Jade, Unreal Tournament 2004, PGR 1 & 2, Ninja Gaiden and GTA 3/Vice City/San Andreas and many good FPS games. I bet some of it you don't care or didn't take time to think of what good games on XBOX 1. Anyway, my point is HD DVD look more promsing than a damn piece of crap Blu-ray... yes that what I think Blu-ray is, all you can do is sod off and piss your own grave, wanker. G'day Mr.Think-he-know-all-that-which-you're-not, I know my gaming and movies histories in techoloies have evolving snice VHS v.s. Beta (Toshiba v.s. Sony) and then DVD v.s. SACD (Toshiba v.s. Sony) and for the third time... HD DVD v.s. Blu-ray (Toshiba v.s. Sony). Sony trying to win or force us to use their products and pay more money for it. F*CK OFF, Sony... you suck big time, I don't even care about their products. Yeah they make some alrite or half ass products which is internet or worth buying it... at the moment. Buy now... HA!!! Please, there is nothing I want from Sony but only watching movie in theatres that're made/produced by Sony's companies, including renting as well. That it, nothing more.

"blue ray is sony's...sure other companies support it but it is not their system/product...that's like saying xbox isn't MS but also EA and ubisoft...or Camery isn't just Toyota..but exon and shell and the tire company etc."
1) Think about what you just said, and how stupid it sounds. When MS posted that 1 billion dollar loss, did ubisoft or ea shareholders wince? When toyota becomes the largest auto mftr in the world overtaking GM, does that effect Exxon or shell, or Goodyear? When you see the world Blu Ray, there is no trademark after that...which was filed by sony, same w/ hd dvd. Theres a big difference between being the biggest/heaviest supporter and being the only person behind something.
2) Did i even mention that i didn't know about dreamcast? read into the context of what i wrote, it was dumb of him to even bring that up. Dreamcast was a system that just didn't have the thrust to take off in the market like n64 or ps2. and no, i dont care to read about dreamcast a system thats been dead for 5 years or so.
3)Umm...look at the two formats, one of the reasons that hd dvd gets more features, well...their players are running a finalized spec w/ internet connectivity. Why do you think that sony, fox, and disney weren't releasing too many movies in the last few months? waiting for october.
@Daniel
Ohhhhhhhh daniel my brother...
Thank you for listing just about every good game that ever game out on Xbox. I almost forgot about them. But, how many of those were exclusive titles that would make people want to buy a Box. I mean, even looking @ the GTA series, those were great games for the Box, but it must of been a bit inconvenient that both games came out a year later than the PS2 version.
Anyways, back to your main argument, can you please explain to me how Blu ray looks more promising? Is it the price (the price delta between HD and Blu is getting smaller and smaller as the months pass by). Is it the selection of choices of stand alone players that you have...Toshiba and...Is it the movie catalogue? Or Maybe the storage capacity of blu vs hd dvd. Please, enlighten me...because there really isn't anything that is more promising about them, unless you're looking to copy movies and absolutely HATE the BDAs extra layers of DRM.
And next time, i'll be sure to take notice that i'm talking to a tech guru that knows about all past , present and future tech. Going all the way back to "VHS v.s. Beta (Toshiba v.s. Sony)" [cough cough, VHS was developed by JVC]
